A Cop's Eye for Detail
Three decades of investigations, reports, and walk-throughs. I notice the things you'd want noticed — and document them properly.
I'm Mark Fleecs — owner of Vail Valley Home Watch, retired Denver Police Commander, and the person who'll personally walk through your home each week while you're away.

I spent 31 years with the Denver Police Department, retiring as a Police Commander. The job teaches you a few things that don't fade: show up when you said you would, write down what you saw, tell the truth even when it's inconvenient, and pay attention to the small details — because the small details are almost always where trouble starts.
When I retired and moved full-time to the Vail Valley, I knew I wasn't done working. I wanted something that put those same habits to use, in a community I'd come to love. Home watch turned out to be a near-perfect fit — and earning my NHWA accreditation and CHWP designation gave the business an external standard to be measured against.
Two things happened around the same time. A friend in the valley was struggling to find someone reliable to look after four condos owned by part-time residents — the kind of place where a missed leak in February can mean a five-figure repair by spring. And a family member down in South Florida had just launched her own home watch business and offered to walk me through how it worked.
The timing was hard to ignore. I started Vail Valley Home Watch with four units to learn on, a mentor a phone call away, and a clear sense that this was work worth doing well. It's grown carefully since — one homeowner at a time, mostly by referral — because the only way I know how to care for someone else's home is the way I'd want my own cared for.
“You bought this place to enjoy it, not to worry about it. My job is to handle the worry — so that when you turn into the driveway, the only thing on your mind is how good it feels to be back.”
Anyone can say they're trustworthy. These are the credentials that back it up — and I'm happy to send documentation before you ever hand over a key.

No call centers, no rotating staff, no junior tech learning your house. Same person, same standards, every visit.
Eight-plus years living here. Real relationships with the plumbers, electricians, and trades who answer when I call.
Me — Mark. Every visit, every report, every contractor walk-through. There's no rotating crew and no subcontractors with keys to your house. See the full list of services I personally handle.
Yes. After a few months I know which window sticks, which thermostat reads two degrees high, and which circuit trips when the dryer and microwave run together. That continuity is most of the value — and it shows up in every visit and report.
Yes — general liability and crime/fidelity insurance, and bonded, all required to maintain my NHWA accreditation. Happy to send documents over before we ever meet — just reach out.
Three things: a 31-year career in law enforcement (retired as a Denver Police Commander), NHWA accreditation that requires background checks and an enforced code of ethics, and references from current Vail Valley clients I'm happy to connect you with — just ask.
I retired as a Police Commander after 31 years with the Denver Police Department, then started Vail Valley Home Watch to put that experience to work for part-time residents up here. I've lived in the valley for over eight years — happy to share references from current clients.
A free, no-pressure consultation. I'll listen first, then build a plan that fits.
